The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has disclosed why Ghanaians want to vote back former President John Mahama.

Speaking on the news analysis programme Newsfile monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Sammy Gyamfi stated that the Afrobarometer report disclosed that Ghanaians are worried about the cost of living and the hardship in the country.

According to him, Ghanaians will vote for John Mahama because he has a sound economic track record and has been president in the past.

The NDC National Executive believes that Ghanaians will vote for Mahama because he stabilized the economy in the past and can do that again if given the mandate

“Ghanaians say the hardship and cost of living are too much and unbearable. So they are looking for a leader who has done it before relative to the stability of the economy to come and do it again” Sammy Gyamfi explained.

“Under Mahama, there were challenges, but you needed just GHc4 to have a dollar. Today you need more than GHc17. GHc17 to a dollar cannot be better GHc4”, Sammy Gyamfi argued.

Sammy Gyamfi further added that under John Mahama, although there were challenges, unemployment rate was just 8% but now the number has doubled, stating that just as Donald Trump was ridiculed as a one-term president so is the NPP doing same to John Mahama.

He indicated that Ghanaians can read through the lines and know that most of the things the NPPs said about John Mahama under his administration were lies.
