Sammy Anim Addo, the manager of WBO Africa Featherweight Champion John Abaga Laryea, is the front-runner for the Boxing Ghana Best Manager of the Year 2024 award at the 2024 edition of Ghana Boxing Awards.

The nominations, released on Sunday, have positioned Anim Addo as a favorite to win his category, thanks to his outstanding achievement of guiding his boxer to victory in a bout outside the country, specifically in Florida, USA.

This feat is all the more impressive considering that most Ghanaian boxers who have traveled abroad to compete have been defeated.

Anim Addo’s success in managing Laryea’s career, including his two-time defense of the WBO African Featherweight Championship and his first international win in the USA, makes a strong case for him to be crowned Boxing Manager of the Year.

Laryea, also known as the “Expensive Boxer,” has been nominated for Professional Boxer of the Year, while Coach Carl Lokko is a top contender for Coach of the Year. Other boxers from the Bronx Boxing Club, including WBO Bantamweight Champion Daniel Gorsh, Stanley Nyantekyi (the Ashanti Warrior), and John Zile (The Beast), have also received nominations.

Anim Addo’s role in Laryea’s career spans seven years, during which he has guided him from the streets of Bukom to become Ghana’s potential world champion. His dedication and expertise have been instrumental in Laryea’s success, making Anim Addo a deserving winner of the Boxing Manager of the Year award.
