The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has disclosed that he worked closely with the late Ayawaso East MP, Naser Toure Mahama, during his time in Parliament.

He stated that he regularly conversed with the Ayawaso East Constituency MP and often sought his advise as a committee chair on certain issues.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb TV, Sam George said that the late MP’s death stunned him and that he wished him eternal rest.

“He was not just our colleague in Parliament. For those of us in Greater Accra, he was our father, chair of our caucus. We worked very closely with him. Barely four weeks ago, I was with him and his wife having some conversations in my office. This is someone I knew very well. He showed us the ropes.

“When we got into Parliament to meet him, like I said, four weeks ago when I met him, we were shocked. This is a big blow. It’s not something we can run away from, but we can only give God thanks for the gift of his life and pray that Almighty Allah grants him peace.”

Naser Toure Mahama was reported dead on the afternoon of Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Born on March 17, 1965, in Nima, Accra, Mahama was a seasoned politician who represented the Ayawaso East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the NDC.

He first entered Parliament in 2012 after winning the seat in the general elections and was re-elected in subsequent polls, including a resounding victory in the 2024 elections, where he garnered over 70% of the votes.

A businessman by profession, Naser Toure Mahama held a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Central University, a Diploma in Governance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Doshisha University in Japan.
