Social media is ablaze with criticism of Minister of Communications, Digital Technologies and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, after it emerged that the much-touted “value increases” for DStv subscribers may only last for a limited period.
On September 29, 2025, Sam George announced that Ghanaian DStv users would receive 33% to 50% more channel value in their existing packages following negotiations with MultiChoice. Many interpreted this as a permanent boost or instant price reduction.
But on October 1, 2025 MultiChoice Ghana Limited clarified that the upgrades are part of a three-month promotional campaign, dubbed “We’ve Got You,” which runs from October 1 to December 31, 2025.
‘Same waakye price, extra shito’ – Ghanaians react to new DStv prices
The revelation sparked backlash across X, Facebook, and other platforms, with many users accusing both the minister and DStv of misleading Ghanaians.
Some netizens said the announcement had raised expectations of lasting relief, only for it to be revealed as temporary.
Others went further, speculating that Sam George had been used as a vehicle to promote the campaign at no cost to MultiChoice Ghana.
“Some of you really think Sam George dey fight DStv for consumers. Open your eyes, this whole saga dey look like influencer promo pass real regulation.”
“Naah, I gotta give it to DSTV. I thought I’d seen top-tier finessing… but what they did to Sam George… that’s a discovery.”
Supporters of the minister’s intervention, however, pushed back, arguing that his efforts were clearly in the interest of consumers and that the trolling was unnecessary.
“What Hon. Sam George is fighting for us in regards to DSTV is to our benefit as citizens. I don’t see why some are bent on seeing him fail. DSTV is emboldened disrespectfully by our divisiveness,” one supporter posted.

Sam George is a joke of a leader. Take him seriously at your own peril.
Let the Ghanaian DSTV users determine for themselves what to do with the “reduction”
Accra to Nkawkaw is 100 cedis
Instead of a reduction in the fare, you tell me you’ll take me to Kumasi. REALLY?? https://t.co/gF6BJvuXPk— Samuel Osei K Kelvin (@realKelvin_gh) October 1, 2025
Sam George can still come out on top of this humbling. All Ghanaians want is to be able to watch their football at affordable rates. He should just accept defeat in this one, go back to the drawing board and come back with what works and he will be hailed

DSTV has not clarified anything. They are only saying that the offer ends in 3 months, after which, you periodically(every 3 monthd) review the offer. Just apologize Sam George.

sam george was utterly disrespectful and arrogant and instead of rebuking him as you would others, you’re sugarcoating it as some boys boys communication. lol
