Mohamed Salah has publicly called out a Liverpool fan account for what he described as “disrespect” towards some of his former teammates.

The Egyptian forward, who has often kept a low profile online, used his social media platform to defend players who departed Anfield this summer.

Salah, 33, has been an increasingly active figure on social media in recent years, often sharing behind-the-scenes moments of his career.

In the 2024/25 season, as Liverpool lifted their second Premier League title in five years under new manager Arne Slot, Salah began a sentimental tradition of posing for photographs with each goal scorer after every win.

The ritual captured special memories with players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez, all of whom left the club during the transfer window.

Liverpool’s busy summer saw more than £400 million invested in a refreshed forward line, with marquee arrivals Florian Wirtz (£116m) and Alexander Isak (£125m) dominating headlines.

While fans have welcomed the new signings, the excitement has at times been framed at the expense of those who departed.

One such example came from the X account Anfield Edition, which appeared to downplay the contributions of Diaz and Nunez in favour of Liverpool’s “new era.”

Salah reposted the comment with a sharp rebuke: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the Premier League champions?”

The response struck a chord with Liverpool fans, many of whom praised Salah for defending his former colleagues.
