Ghana’s national team coach, Otto Addo, has come under sharp criticism following the Black Stars’ heavy defeat to Austria in a recent international friendly.
Local football pundit, Coach Nimley, questioned Addo’s tactical competence, suggesting the Ghana Football Association consider making a late managerial change ahead of major competitions. Nimley cited past examples where teams achieved success after dismissing their coaches shortly before tournaments.
He pointed to Algeria national football team and Ivory Coast national football team, both of whom made coaching changes prior to the Africa Cup of Nations and went on to lift the trophy.
The comments come amid growing concern over the Black Stars’ recent performances, with fans and analysts calling for improved results and a clearer tactical direction. The Ghana Football Association is yet to respond to the remarks, as pressure continues to mount on Addo and his technical team.
