Some Ghanaian football supporters have called on sporting authorities to dismiss Black Stars head coach Otto Addo and dissolve the entire Black Stars following the team’s abysmal performances in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

According to them, the team’s inability to win a single match in Group F, with opponents like Niger, Sudan, Angola, and finishing with three points is disgraceful for a football nation like Ghana.

Others also questioned Otto Addo’s coaching competency, as he is unable to gel the wealth of talent in the team to excel in matches, and raised concerns about his confidence as a coach.

During the Sports Debate show aired on GhanaWeb TV, a section of the public called for the entire Black Stars team to be dissolved before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers begin.

“I think he should be sacked because we have good coaches who can take the Black Stars to the next qualification. With Ghana’s history in AFCON, there is no need for us to be evicted. At least we should have qualified. I don’t blame the players but Otto Addo,” an individual said.

Another person added, “If I had power, I would say the entire Black Stars team should be dissolved because everyone is involved. Due to the terrible performances, people don’t show up to watch Black Stars matches at the stadium. So the government should appoint a new set of people to take over the team.”

A football fan also expressed his disappointment, saying, “Ghana not winning even one match doesn’t augur well, so not only the coach, but from head to toe, the entire management team members should be sacked. We had an easier group, yet we couldn’t even beat any of them. Black Stars is dear to us, so they should do something.”

“I don’t have trust in the team anymore due to the disappointment. The coach has a good personality, but he lacks the confidence and courage to lead such a star-studded team. We should dismiss him immediately,” a fan told GhanaWeb Sports.

The Black Stars, under coach Otto Addo, failed to qualify for the tournament. Their recent 1-1 draw against Angola left them at the bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches—three losses and three draws.

Group F leaders Angola have already booked their spot in Morocco with 14 points, followed by Sudan with eight points and Niger with seven points, leaving the Black Stars at the bottom.

It is the first time in 21 years that Ghana has failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
