Former Hearts of Oak board member Barimah Atuahene has urged the club’s majority shareholder, Togbe Afede XIV, to remove Vincent Sowah Odotei and Alhaji Braimah Akambi from the team’s management.

Atuahene’s call comes amid concerns over the club’s recent struggles. Hearts of Oak, who won five trophies under coach Samuel Boadu during the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, have since failed to replicate that success.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Atuahene argued that the presence of Odotei and Akambi is hindering the club’s progress.

“With Odotei and Akambi around Hearts of Oak, the club will continue to struggle. These people have been around the team, and the team keeps regressing.

“I think it is about time that Togbe Afede sacks these people from the club. The supporters want them out, and I agree with the call by the fans.

“I think Togbe should get competent management that will report to him. I am sad anytime I watch Hearts of Oak play. Togbe has spent millions on this team, but they keep failing him.

“With the infrastructure at the club now, these players should be performing, but that is not the case,” he added.

Hearts of Oak were held to a 0-0 draw against Dreams FC on Friday, January 16, at the University of Ghana Stadium, leaving the club temporarily in fourth place with 32 points.
