Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has called on sports minister Kofi Adams to refrain from making comments about the Black Stars ahead of their next game in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Before Ghana’s game against Chad, the sports minister disclosed the team’s budget to the public, where some items were slashed and others removed.

This generated significant public debate, with some individuals blaming the minister for the 1-1 draw against Chad.

Speaking ahead of the Black Stars’ next game against Mali on September 8, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium, Saanie urged Kofi Adams to stay silent on the team’s issues to prevent sparking controversy.

The former GFA spokesperson noted that the players need a serene atmosphere to deliver their best and secure qualification, rather than public debate on monetary issues.

“The next step to take is for the minister [Kofi Adams] to shut up. Shut up and let the team focus for once. Let’s focus as a country and be behind the boys. Let’s all back the team and qualify for the World Cup,” Saanie said during an interview with Sporty FM.

Meanwhile, after seven games played, Ghana lead Group I with 16 points, Madagascar are second with 13 points, and Mali and Comoros are tied with 12 points each.

The Black Stars must win their next game against Mali on Monday, September 8, 2025, to maintain their lead.
