Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has weighed in on the widespread online debate sparked by viral videos showing a self-described Russian national, identified as Yaytseslav, interacting with and recording intimate encounters with several Ghanaian women in various locations across Accra.

In a social media post shared via X on February 13, 2026, the outspoken entertainer condemned commentators who have labelled Ghanaian women “cheap,” describing such remarks as disrespectful and hypocritical.

He argued that many of the same male critics would behave similarly — or even worse — when interacting with white foreigners.

“Nobody should say Ghanaian women are cheap. It’s disrespectful because most of you boys here do the same or even worse when you see white men or foreigners. Gerrout with your hypocritical talks,” he posted.

Shatta Wale insisted that attention should instead be directed toward the legal and ethical issues surrounding the unauthorised recording and publication of people’s private encounters without their consent.

“Recording someone without their consent is illegal; that’s what we need to be focusing on, not our beautiful Ghana girls,” he wrote.

The remarks come amid growing public outrage over the videos, which have circulated widely on social media platforms, with more explicit clips reportedly shared through private, paywalled channels.

Shatta Wale’s comments mirror those of hiplife artiste Reggie Rockstone, who also noted that many male critics might have acted similarly if the situation involved a white woman.

Many Ghanaian netizens and public figures have since called for stronger legal action against individuals who exploit intimate content for profit or viral attention.
