Portugal and Al-Hilal midfielder Rúben Neves unveiled a poignant tattoo during a training session with the Portuguese national team on September 2, 2025, in a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and teammate Diogo Jota.

The tattoo, engraved on his left calf, depicts a moment of friendship between Neves and Jota, showing the two in an embrace while wearing Portugal’s national jersey.

The tribute embodies the lasting bond between the two players, who shared time together at Porto, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and with the Portugal national team.

Jota tragically passed away alongside his brother, André Silva, in a car accident in northern Spain in July 2025.

The coach of the Portuguese national team, Roberto Martínez, also commemorated Jota by passing his No. 21 jersey to Neves, saying:

“He had a very close relationship with Diogo and is the ideal person to represent him.”

The tattoo and jersey transfer underscore Neves’ loyalty and love for Jota, ensuring his friend’s spirit remains on the field.
