Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana, has assured Ghanaians that the GTA has launched an investigation into a viral social media video involving Royal Dede Beach Resort.

In the video circulating online, a woman is heard accusing a hotel located in Accra New Town, identified as Royal Dede Beach Resort, of allegedly allowing minors to engage in intimate activities on the premises.

In a recent update posted on his X page on April 23, 2025, Abeiku Santana confirmed that the GTA is actively probing the issue.

He explained that the matter has been reported to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.

“The Ghana Tourism Authority has taken swift action following reports circulating on social media regarding concerns of minors allegedly taken to a hotel in Accra New Town. The case has been reported to the Nima Police Division for investigation,” he said.

He further revealed that upon inspection of the facility, the GTA discovered that Royal Dede Beach Resort had been converted into a hotel without undergoing the proper regulatory procedures.

“Additionally, our team inspected Royal Dede Beach Resort, which has been converted into a hostel under new management without official notification to the Ghana Tourism Authority.

We discovered that the hostel’s operations were not in compliance with Tourism Regulations 2016, L.I. 2239. The operator has since been directed to the Standards and Quality Assurance Department of the Authority for the necessary regulatory processes,” he added.
