Rose Yeboah says she is happy to be among the high jump finalists Rose Yeboah says she is happy to be among the high jump finalists

Ghanaian athlete Rose Yeboah has expressed her delight after qualifying for the final of the women’s high jump at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on September 18, 2025.

The athlete cleared an impressive height of 1.92m to advance to the final, where she will compete among the best for a medal.

She stated that she had planned to secure qualification for the final following her disappointing performance in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The athlete noted that clearing on her first attempt has been a huge challenge but thanked her coach and trainer, who have groomed her to do better in subsequent attempts.

Speaking in an interview with sports journalist Fentuo Tahiru Fenuo, Rose vowed to do her best and win a medal for the nation in the final.

“Qualifying for this stage is a huge achievement. I am proud of myself, my coach, and supporters as well. All I wanted was to qualify for the finals… it’s not easy to train with no competition, so I am glad to have made it.

“My coach knows that I often miss my first attempt, so it wasn’t a surprise to me, but he knew I was going to the final. I know my supporters back home are cheering me on right now, and I’ll try my best to get a better position,” she said.

She also indicated that her poor performance in the Paris Olympic Games took a toll on her, but she’s proud to have bounced back with the help of her coach.

“This season, I have been going through a lot after the Olympics. It really affected my performance during my collegiate season, but with the help of my coaches and trainers, I was able to recover. I didn’t know what I was doing, but since I wasn’t able to do my best at the Olympics, I decided to do better this time around,” she added
