Brazilian football legend Luis Nazário Ronaldo has named Argentine icon Lionel Messi a better player than himself.

Ronaldo took part in a “this or that” challenge, where he ranked himself above many other great players—except Messi.

In the video, the highly-rated former striker confidently named himself as a better player than Real Madrid and Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo. However, when asked to choose between himself and Messi, he took a brief pause before picking the Argentine.

Throughout previous interviews, Ronaldo has consistently referred to Messi as the greatest player of all time.

In an interview with GOAL, he notably omitted Cristiano Ronaldo from his list of top attackers, which featured himself, Messi, Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona, and Pelé.

However, he did acknowledge Cristiano’s legendary status, naming him among the greatest players of all time alongside Maradona, Messi, and Pelé.
