Ghanaian midfielder Ronald Donkor won the Eastern Conference Major League Soccer [MLS] Cup with the New York Red Bulls after beating Orlando City on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
The 20-year-old came on as a substitute as the Red Bulls defeated Orlando City by 1-0 to win the title.
The victory confirmed the Red Bulls’ ticket to the 2024 MLS Cup final after a successful MLS playoff.
Defender Andres Reyes cut short Orlando City’s dream of reaching the MLS Cup final with the only goal of the game.
After a barren first half, Reyes’ moment of glory came two minutes after recess when he headed in John Tolkin’s cross from a set piece after being left unmarked.
New York Red Bulls will now face LA Galaxy in the final of the 2024 MLS Cup on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Donkor has been instrumental to the Red Bulls’ successful campaign in the MLS, making 20 appearances after earning his promotion to the senior team.
