Ever heard the phrase, “Ain’t no party like a Lagos party”?

Well, it appears it might need some revision.

Lagos, Nigeria is known for its vibrant nightlife, from top nightclubs and beach parties to live music, and has even gained international recognition.

Not to mention the big ‘Odogwu’ spenders who contribute to the electric atmosphere at such events.

But ‘Lagosians’, after attending a party in Accra, are beginning to rethink their dominance in the fun circles.

This shift in perspective came after attending the 40th birthday of Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii-Armah Quaye.

Toke Makinwa, a popular Nigerian media personality, entrepreneur, and socialite, shared her experience on social media.

Aside from talking about the warm reception she received from Ghanaians, she also opened up on her unforgettable night at the Independence Square, where the Ghanaian business mogul’s party was held.

Toke Makinwa, who wasn’t just an attendee but also a host at the party, took to social media after the event to say, “Touched down in Accra to host #RNAQ40 last night… I thought we knew how to party in Lagos, but y’all did a thing in Accra! The warm welcome, as always, is everything! Me dɔ wo Ghana!”

Videos that surfaced online showed about 20 Nigerian celebrity guests, including actors, musicians, and socialites, having an incredible time at the party.

The likes of Mofe Damijo, Davido, Cubana Chief Priest, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo, Neo Akpofure, Swanky Jerry, Waje, Enioluwa, and many others were present at the party.

Tanzanian music sensation, Diamond Platinumz, also graced the event, bringing his A-game.

Touted as the biggest party in Ghana currently, Richard Nii-Armah Quaye’s 40th birthday party has since been discussed widely in the international media.

There were performances from some of the continent’s biggest stars, a display of wealth, luxury cars, and four distinct sections at Independence Square that hosted 2,000 guests.

The event is now being touted as the “party of the decade” in Ghana, solidifying its place as the biggest in Africa over the weekend.
