Canada-based golfer Rickie Hurtubiase continued his family’s impressive winning streak in golf by clinching the GRIDCo Centre of the World Golf Club Championship in Tema.

Hurtubiase posted a three-day total of 229, recording rounds of 77, 75, and 77, to emerge winner in a highly competitive field.

Aware of the course’s difficulty, especially on the final day, he maintained his composure and sealed victory ahead of Jibril Kassim (233), Desmond Abban (234), and Frank Torgah (234).

Speaking to the media after receiving his trophy in the presence of his parents, Hurtubiase expressed delight at winning the championship, attributing his success to consistent training and preparation.

The tournament, dubbed the GRIDCo Centre of the World Golf Club Championship, featured professionals, scratch players, and amateurs, and attracted over 100 golfers from across the country.

The event was sponsored by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), with support from Bel Aqua, Nester Home, Royal Senchi, Zed Multimedia, and The Finder.

In the Men’s Main Division, Kingsley Okechukwu Landers claimed first place, with George Wisbon Mensah and Ackah Blay finishing second and third respectively.

The Men’s Category A was won by Gustave Godonou, followed by Dennis Etwi-Barimah and Charles Kumi.

In Men’s Group B, Michael Sackitey, Abdallah Andani, and Philip Dodu Fynn emerged victorious, while Patrick Amoah Bekoe, Yaw Asamoah, and Cecil Kwatchey took the top three spots in Men’s Group C.

In the Ladies Division, Catherine Fabbi delivered a superb performance to win overall with 74 points, finishing ahead of Hawa Brito and Naomi Teye-Lartey.

Letitia Amponsah-Mensah secured the Ladies Category A title, beating Floria Hurtubise and Adiatu Tiamiyu.

Patricia Adusei-Poku won Ladies Group B, ahead of Angelica Ayanful and Akua Afriyie Tamakloe.

In the Seniors Division, Samuel Osei Bediako, Joshua Preprah, and Hellen Apau were recognized for their performances, alongside winners of several auxiliary prizes.

The Club Captain, Ruben Kwame Kordorwu, who was joined by the Akwamuhene, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto II, for the ceremonial tee-off, expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout and thanked sponsors—particularly GRIDCo—for their support.

Representing GRIDCo, Samuel Kow Acquah, Acting Director of the Corporate Strategy Department, stated that the company’s partnership with the Centre of the World Golf Club had been worthwhile.

Augustine Mannesah won the professional category division of the tournament.
