According to Mynewsgh, Ghanaian artist and politician Rex Omar has asked for an official investigation and legal action against Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, President Nana Akufo-Addo’s daughter, as part of the government’s Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) campaign. Omar’s request is based on claims about Gyankroma’s role in managing public monies while she was a board member of the Creative Arts Council.

Omar is particularly concerned about the usage of public monies in connection with an ambulance transaction. He claimed that President Akufo-Addo gave his daughter a large sum of $58 million to buy ambulances for distribution throughout the country. According to Omar, this money was intended to cover the purchase of around 307 ambulances, but he concerns if the funds were handled effectively.

The artist and political activist went on to attack another component of the agreement, claiming that Gyankroma Akufo-Addo was awarded a $34.9 million contract to purchase ambulance replacement parts. Omar questioned the reasoning for such a spending, claiming that the funds allotted for spare parts could have been better used to purchase extra ambulances, delivering a more immediate benefit to the country.

In his statement, Omar expressed alarm about the broader ramifications of these transactions, which he feels constitute major misuse and misappropriation of public monies. He has requested that an investigation be conducted under the Operation Recover All Loots initiative, which was established to analyze and reclaim public money that may have been wrongly awarded or exploited.

Omar’s plea for transparency and accountability comes at a time when Ghanaian politicians are debating government spending and public resource management. The musician, known for his outspoken opinions on national problems, has long called for responsible government and increased scrutiny of public funds.

As the issue progresses, many people are pushing the relevant authorities to act quickly to examine these charges and ensure that public funds are used in a way that benefits Ghanaians. The public is also encouraged to participate in the ongoing conversation, with many expressing a need for transparency about how such enormous quantities of public money are managed.

Omar closed by emphasizing the need of maintaining transparency in the use of state resources and bringing those responsible for any misuse accountable.

As calls for an investigation persist, it is unclear how the government and authorities will respond to these allegations, as well as whether any additional action will be done in response to Rex Omar’s claims.
