Jose Mourinho has wasted little time putting his stamp on Real Madrid after introducing three strict new measures at the Bernabeu, according to reports.

The legendary former Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham manager returned to the Spanish giants this summer to help improve discipline and restore order to the dressing room after Real Madrid endured a disappointing season without a trophy.

Tasked with managing the personalities of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, who agreed a new six-year deal at the club this week, Mourinho has reportedly focused on three key areas to improve standards at the Bernabeu.

According to Spanish outlet AS, the Portuguese has implemented new measures over nutrition, punctuality and recovery from injury.

Firstly, players are told exactly what to eat every day by the club’s nutritionist, who used to hold an advisory role but now sets menus for all meals, including breakfast and even afternoon snacks.

Before he arrived, there was more freedom over diet and nutrition but Mourinho is determined to have the kitchen structured around performance as opposed to each player’s personal preference.

Rules around nutrition, punctuality and injury recovery has changed since his arrival

For now, despite losing their freedom over food, the players have reacted positively to the new measure, according to the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has also changed how players will be punished if they turn up late to training or a meeting at Valdebebas.

Before, poor punctuality would result in financial fines, but now players who turn up late are required to train away from the rest of the team, working out alone in the gym.

Mourinho insists on his players arriving one hour before the start of training and has urged that anyone failing to adhere to this rule will be sanctioned, regardless of status, role or hierarchy.

Finally, the Portuguese boss has ordered that all injury recovery sessions and programmes must now exclusively take place at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex.

Eager to make rehabilitation more of a collective task rather than an individual one, Mourinho has banned external treatments and urged that every single medical detail must be coordinated through the club and his staff.

Real Madrid, who finished 12 points behind archrivals Barcelona in LaLiga’s title race last season, begin the new campaign with a trip to Espanyol on August 22.
