Bill Belichick is already winning hearts in North Carolina and he hasn’t even coached his first football game yet.
The 72-year-old, known for his no-nonsense approach during his tenure as head coach of the New England Patriots, has employed some surprising tactics to win over the student body in Chapel Hill.
Belichick’s impromptu act of charity has left football fans surprised after he arranged for pizzas to be delivered to at least one fraternity house on campus.
The Tar Heels chief is said to be buying the unidentified fraternity pizzas for UNC’s basketball rivalry game against Duke on Saturday at 6:30pm ET, according to 247Sports’ Ross Martin.
Alec Kerr, North Carolina‘s Director of Football Operation, reportedly confirmed Belichick’s intentions in an email to the fraternity.
‘Our plan is to deliver the pizzas on behalf of Coach Belichick to your house,’ Kerr allegedly wrote. However, Belichick has not publicly commented on his gesture.

While studying for his bachelor’s degree in economics at Wesleyan University in the 1970s, Belichick was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity.
Chi Psi has a chapter at North Carolina but it is unclear if it is the fraternity Belichick intends to gift with his pizzas.

There had been interest in Belichick going back to the professional ranks with Tom Brady involved in the Las Vegas Raiders search, as a minority owner, for their next leader.
Belichick has a $10million buyout in his UNC contract to leave of his own accord before June 1. After that date, it drops to a measly $1million for an NFL franchise.
Everyone in Belichick’s camp has maintained since he took the North Carolina job that he would not leave the school for an NFL opportunity.
