Rev. Helbert Nii Aryee Annan has been nominated by the youth of Ga-Adangbe as their favored candidate to represent Greater Accra in the upcoming Council of State election.

Hailing from Adjumaku Dawurampong in Ngleshi Alata (James Town), Accra, Rev. Annan is described as a result-driven leader with a commitment to enhancing the welfare of the region.

Rev. Annan, who has a background in law and is a Chartered Accountant with an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business, has outlined several key initiatives if elected. His agenda includes advocating for better welfare for Assembly Members, who currently depend on the often-limited Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of local assemblies.

He proposes the creation of a dedicated fund for Assembly Members, alongside better salaries and benefits such as saloon car loans and a consolidated ex-gratia payment.

During a recent meeting with his nominators, Rev. Annan expressed his gratitude for the nomination and emphasized his commitment to represent the interests of Greater Accra. He plans to leverage his experience from his time at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and the Parliament of Ghana to push for policy changes.

His priorities include addressing unemployment, improving education and vocational training for the youth, and tackling issues like flooding, congestion, sanitation, corruption, crime, and security within the region.

“Greater Accra deserves better,” Rev. Annan stated, rallying support under this slogan. His approach to governance is rooted in evidence-based decision-making, aiming to make Greater Accra a hub for technological innovation, thereby promoting sustainable economic growth and community safety.

The nomination of Rev. Annan by the Ga-Adangbe youth signals a strong community backing, highlighting his approachable demeanor and his promise to be accessible for addressing the concerns of the younger demographic. This endorsement comes at a crucial time as the region looks for leaders who can address both contemporary and long-standing challenges.

The election for the Council of State, where Rev. Annan is a candidate, will be pivotal in determining the direction of regional policy and development in Greater Accra.
