Promoter Carlos Llinas presented another card of his long-running Night of Knockouts series at Detroit’s MotorCity Casino on Saturday night. Local heavyweight Vernon Webber headlined the main event against Devonte Williams of Houston. Williams showed very little movement throughout the contest, and Webber was content to work him over with an assortment of blows to the head and body. Despite an occasional offense displayed by Williams, Webber maintained his dominance throughout as Williams languished along the ropes. After four rounds, Williams decided things were not going his way and remained on his stool at the start of the fifth, giving Webber the TKO victory and improving his record to (11-1, 8 KOs). Williams returns home at (13-5, 6 KOs).

In the co-main event, Sam Rizzo used superior movement and boxing to outpoint Paul Peers over six rounds by scores of 60-54, 59-55, and 58-56. Peers gave a good effort but was, for the most part, unable to cut off the ring and land effectively on Rizzo, and thus declines to (3-4, 2 KOs). Local favorite Rizzo rises to (10-1, 6 KOs) with the win.

William Canales (4-0, 3 KOs) knocked out an unorthodox but game Eric Ramirez (0-1) at 1:47 of the fourth round. Ramirez didn’t shy away from exchanging with Canales but was outgunned, getting dropped twice in both the third and fourth rounds, the last knockdown resulting in the ten count.

The fight of the night featured a six-round contest at middleweight between local Detroiter Kevin Carree Jr. and Victor Pradis of Pasadena, Texas. Pradis used a non-stop offense to constantly force Carree to engage. The result was an entertaining series of back-and-forth exchanges that had the crowd cheering this action fight. Pradis earned the well-deserved decision by scores of 59-55 (twice) and 58-56 to even his record at (5-5-2, 2 KOs). Carree suffers his first defeat, falling to (5-1-2, 3 KOs).

The eleven-bout card was rounded out by one six-round contest and six four-rounders. In the six-round fight, which featured a lot of holding, Ferris Dixon (8-1, 4 KOs) landed the majority of punches to win the unanimous verdict by scores of 59-55 (twice) and 58-56 over Reginald Henson (3-2-1, 0 KOs). Heavyweights Tristin Canada and KeShawn Jackson engaged at close quarters for most of their contest, which resulted in a lack of clean punches being landed. Canada prevailed by scores of 39-37 (three times) to move to (3-0, 2 KOs), while Jackson drops to (1-10-1, 0 KOs). Tommy Robinson (3-0, 0 KOs) had too much skill, overcoming Nicholas Daniels (0-1) and winning the decision 39-37 (three times). Gerry Robinson (1-2) scored a first-round knockdown over Mohammad Aliyar (1-1, 1 KO) and went on to win by scores of 40-34 and 39-35 (twice). Aliyar was very aggressive but left himself open to being hit far too much. Daishaun Bundrage (3-0, 3 KOs) pleased Dad K-9 with an easy first-round KO at 2:04 over Darius Carr (1-8, 1 KO). Shawn Tarlton (1-0) outworked James Ashley (0-2), winning with scores of 40-36 and 39-37 (twice). The opening bout saw a very reluctant Ryan Sanchez (1-4, 1 KO) succumb rather easily to John Taylor (1-4, 1 KO) by TKO at 2:05 of the first stanza.

The card marked the 39th Night of Knockouts show. Promoter Llinas announced that No. 40 will take place on April 24, also at MotorCity Casino in downtown Detroit.
