TV chef Tom Kerridge has faced criticism over his ‘cooking charge’ for butcher-priced steaks at his gastropub – despite saying they are an ‘absolute bargain’.
The 48-year-old is launching a new menu which includes the £12.50 fee for cooking meat on his grill at The Butchers Tap and Grill in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, tonight.
But some restaurant goers lashed out at the costs, with one asking: ‘£12.50 to throw on a BBQ griddle?’
It comes three weeks after the Michelin-starred chef was slammed for charging £87 for sirloin steak, with vegetables costing £7.50 extra at his Hand and Flowers pub.

The Michelin-starred chef wrote on social media: ‘You choose your meat at the counter at butchers’ prices and then get charged a £12.50 cook charge per person’
Kerridge told his 600,000 Instagram followers: ‘Steaks! Opening Friday at The Butcher’s Tap and Grill.’
In reference to the previous row, he added: ‘And before any pea brained doughnut asks, it’s not £87.
‘You choose your meat at the counter at butchers’ prices and then get charged a £12.50 cook charge per person. Absolute bargain.’
But one social media user said: ‘Great. Just no need for the “pea brained” insult. Grow up.’
Kerridge hit back, writing: ‘It’s only an insult if it’s aimed at you.’
But Darren responded: ‘So people aren’t entitled to query your famous £87 steak?’
And another said: ‘£12.50 to throw on a BBQ griddle? That’s where I’m struggling pal.’
Kerridge – who runs the pub – said: ‘We also serve it and wash up. If you don’t think that’s worth £12.50 pal.’
Others praised the concept however, with one writing: ‘I’d gladly pay £12.50 and more. I appreciate the skills you guys have.’
Another said: ‘Beautiful steaks, beautiful grill.’

Wine expert Guy Woodward had previously hit out at Kerridge over his £87 steak at The Hand and Flowers.
Other prices included a lamb main at £69 and a spiced venison loin at £60.
Last December, Kerridge faced criticism for selling takeaway Christmas dinners that customers had to cook themselves for £95 per head.
Then two months later he was also blasted for doing similar ones for Valentines Day costing £185.
