The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has cautioned regional coordinators against renting out programme equipment.

His warning came after DRIP management held the first of a series of orientation courses for regional coordinators in the southern sector on June 26, 2025.

Speaking at the two-day orientation in Ada, Greater Accra Region, Vanderpuye emphasised the importance of understanding the programme’s objectives.

He encouraged the coordinators to focus on improving and developing road networks to make them accessible to farmers, traders, schoolchildren, and community members. He charged them to see their appointments as a responsibility to serve Ghana.

The DRIP coordinator further warned the regional coordinators against “renting out DRIP equipment to private individuals and companies,” cautioning that “any equipment seen working without proper permission would be investigated, and those responsible would face consequences.”

He assured that the programme is working closely with the police and national security to enforce this directive.

Vanderpuye also advised the coordinators to ensure proper documentation before sanctioning any work equipment, emphasising the need for accountability and transparency in the programme’s operations.
