Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru, has criticised the recently released report on the military helicopter crash, describing it as incomplete and unhelpful to the public.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Dr Abdul-Kabiru argued that the report failed to address crucial questions, particularly regarding the psychological state of the pilots and the actual cause of the incident.

“Unfortunately, the report hasn’t helped much, because we know that when a helicopter is going to crash. What was the psychological framework of the pilots at the time that they were using the aircraft? They should know, because they were talking to families, they were talking to people they should know”, he asked.

The MP said the document was filled with technical jargon that did little to address the real concerns of ordinary Ghanaians.

He noted that the report’s explanation of a ‘sudden loss of altitude’ did not specify whether the cause was mechanical failure or human error.

Dr Abdul-Kabiru also criticised the report for excluding details about cockpit communication, suggesting that conversations between the pilots may have contained sensitive or security-related information relevant to the investigation.

He expressed further concern that the report made no reference to the aircraft’s black box, which he understands was retrieved.

“Nothing in the report has referred to what was contained. The pilot probably would have said that due to A, B, C, they were experiencing some turbulence and whatever”, he indicated.

Calling for greater clarity and transparency, the MP insisted that both the victims’ families and the broader public deserve a comprehensive explanation rather than vague technical summaries.
