Before the rise of academies and agents, and before European scouts flooded Ghanaian football, one man was already building bridges, between the dusty streets of Mamobi and the bright lights of Europe.

His name might not dominate today’s headlines, but his impact still echoes through the lives and careers of many players who rose from Zongo communities to international fame.

This man, often referred to as the “Pini Zahavi” of Ghana football, was a pioneering football administrator whose work reshaped the sporting landscape of the Zongo community.

Long before the word “grassroots” became fashionable, he understood its power. From Mamobi to Nima, from Accra to Denmark, his vision created pathways for young boys who once played barefoot on the streets.

He was the founder and financier of Mamobi FC Midtjylland, a local club that became a breeding ground for raw football talents. Through his efforts, the club forged a partnership with Danish side FC Midtjylland, one that brought training resources, international exposure, and unprecedented opportunities to the heart of Zongo.

His club produced some of Ghana’s most notable exports, including Razak Pimpong, Prince Tagoe, Isaac Vorsah, and Kweku Essien, among others.

Pimpong, in particular, credited him as the man who transformed his career.

According to reports, it was through his influence and negotiation that Pimpong made Ghana’s 2006 World Cup squad, a crowning moment not just for the player, but for the community that raised him.

His business acumen and sharp eye for football talents earned him comparisons to Israeli super-agent Pini Zahavi, whose global network reshaped the transfer market.

In Ghana, he did the same, facilitating deals, advocating for his players, and ensuring the Zongo football identity was respected and recognised.

Sadly, his story was cut short when he passed away in August 2007, but his legacy remains deeply rooted in Ghana’s football history. To this day, his name stirs memories of ambition, selflessness, and passion; a man who didn’t just manage footballers but built dreams for an entire community.

He may be gone, but the system he inspired, structured football in the Zongos, youth development, and global ambition, continues to thrive. For many, he wasn’t just an administrator; he was a visionary who saw stars in the dirt and gave them the world.
