Liverpool had the highest net spend in a record-breaking summer transfer window for Premier League clubs.
Top-flight teams have splashed the cash over recent months, surpassing last season’s spending record of £3billion, and the Reds have led the way.
Andoni Iraola’s side brought in the likes of Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz, Lucca Brughmans and Bradley Barcola for big money fees – including a £123million deal for the French forward – while they only shifted Curtis Jones (£30m to Inter Milan) and Luca Stephenson (£700,000 to Bolton) for cash.
According to finance expert Kieran Maguire, that put their net spend at £218m, just ahead of newly-promoted Ipswich‘s £193m.
The Tractor Boys, now managed by Gary O’Neil, added 14 senior additions and broke their transfer record first with Brazilian forward Emersonn (£24m from Toulouse) before they surpassed that with the addition of Julio Enciso (£26.1m from Strasbourg).
Meanwhile, Tottenham‘s heavy spending has been well documented, with Roberto De Zerbi‘s side shelling out £334m on the likes of Mateus Fernandes, Savio, Omar Marmoush and Sandro Tonali.

Fernandes became Spurs’ record signing (£85m from West Ham) before Tonali’s arrival for £100m from Newcastle ensured the Italian took that mantle.
However, they did recoup £188m in sales through the likes of Cristian Romero (£34m to Atletico Madrid), Luka Vuskovic (£50m to Brighton) and Djed Spence (£30m to Inter Milan).
Spurs were the third highest spenders in the window, with Man City having the largest outlay at £472m.
That included three mega-money additions in midfield via record signing Enzo Fernandez (£125m from Chelsea), Elliot Anderson (£116m from Nottingham Forest) and Ayyoub Bouaddi (£86m from Lille).
They also signed Iliman Ndiaye (£65m from Everton).
However, Enzo Maresca’s side managed to recoup £345m through sales.
The exits of Savio (£85m to Tottenham), Rodri (£65.4m to Barcelona), Nico Gonzalez (£50m to Newcastle) and James Trafford (£40m to Leeds) meant their net spend was only the sixth-largest at £127m.
The second-highest spenders were Chelsea at £351m but the Blues managed to bring in £451m in player sales, the most of anyone, to give them the lowest net spend of -£100m.
Morgan Rogers came in as a record arrival from Aston Villa for £117m, while Maxence Lacroix (£51m from Crystal Palace), Marco Palestra (£43m from Atalanta) and Pep Chavarria (£16.3m from Rayo Vallecano) were among other major signings.
Those funds were recouped though through the exits of Enzo Fernandez (£125m to Man City), Nicolas Jackson (£65m to Aston Villa), Marc Cucurella (£51.8m to Real Madrid) and Andrey Santos (£50m to Man United).
Pierre Sage’s Crystal Palace were the lowest spenders of the summer at just £51m
The lowest spenders of the summer were Crystal Palace as the Eagles shelled out just £51m despite bringing in ten players.
This was helped through the loan additions of Evann Guessand (from Aston Villa), Axel Disasi (from Chelsea) and Honest Ahanor (from Atalanta), while Oscar Mingueza (from Celta Vigo) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (from Ajax) joined on free transfers.
In total, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Coventry City, Leeds, Hull City, Aston Villa, Ipswich, Brentford, Brighton and Nottingham Forest all broke their transfer record during the window.
