Ghana international, Michael Baidoo, has expressed excitement after completing a record transfer to Championship side Plymouth Argyle on Friday, January 3, 2025.

The transfer, reported to be worth around €1.7 million, makes Baidoo the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

The 25-year-old midfielder joins Argyle on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Swedish side IF Elfsborg.

Plymouth had initially attempted to sign Baidoo at the start of the 2024/25 season during the summer, but the deal fell through.

Speaking to the club after the transfer was finalized, Baidoo shared his joy and relief at the move finally coming to fruition.

“Really excited to be here finally. There have been lots of ups and downs, but I’m happy to be here. I almost left in the summer, and it didn’t happen, but in the end, Plymouth came back, and I know this is the place I have to be. I’m just happy it’s finally done,” he said.

Baidoo previously played for Sandnes Ulf in Norway and FC Midtjylland in Denmark, with loan spells at Jerv and Fredericia.

In the Europa League (including the qualification rounds), he scored five goals and provided three assists. During the 2024 Allsvenskan season, he contributed 10 goals and four assists.

Baidoo will wear the number 30 jersey, pending EFL approval and international clearance.

He is expected to be available for selection when Argyle travels to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford in the FA Cup Round of 32 on January 11, 2025.
