Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid are reportedly planning to hire German coach Jurgen Klopp as their next manager if Carlo Ancelotti leaves at the end of the 2024/2025 season.

According to talkSPORT, the Los Blancos intend to restructure their technical team to enhance their performance going forward.

Klopp, who announced his retirement from coaching after departing Liverpool in 2024, is one of the options the club considers competent to handle their star-studded team, given his vast coaching experience.

Sources close to club President Florentino Perez believe Klopp is the ideal manager to change the club’s fortunes.

“People close to Florentino Perez are suggesting that the German is perhaps the only candidate who could fix this season’s tactical mess.

“He would be an impact signing, would have much more room to manoeuvre, and would perhaps be better able to handle the pressure of a club that only wants to win at any cost,” a Madrid official said.

However, it’s unclear if the German coach will accept the offer, as he is currently playing an administrative role at Red Bull’s head of global soccer.

Klopp won numerous titles with Liverpool, including the 2019 UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

He also won the 2020 Premier League and two Carabao Cup trophies.

Meanwhile, reports have indicated that Bayern Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is also a leading candidate, following his success in winning the Bundesliga with an unbeaten run last season.

Real Madrid are on the verge of going trophyless this season after being eliminated from the 2024/25 Champions League and trailing Barcelona in La Liga, with the ‘Copa del Rey’ final also at risk due to their current form.
