The Supreme Court dismissed a suit seeking to halt the removal process of Chief Justice Torkornoo

The Supreme Court of Ghana, on May 6, dismissed an injunction application filed by Vincent Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, which sought to halt proceedings on three petitions calling for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

The application, brought forward by the opposition NPP legislator, was presented in court by his lawyer, former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame.

In a 3-2 majority decision, Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, alongside Justices Yonny Kulendi and Amadu Tanko, ruled to dismiss the injunction request.

Justices Henrietta Mensah Bonsu and Ernest Gaewu dissented, opposing the majority decision.
