After years away from the spotlight, Ghanaian musician Richard Nana Opoku—now known by his stage name Ras Koko—is back in the music scene with a fresh sound and renewed passion.

Formerly known as Akokohwedie, the singer began his musical journey in 1999 at the renowned Fredyma Studios, where he honed his craft and made his early mark in the industry.

Ras Koko took a break from music to pursue opportunities in the mining business, stepping away from the microphone but never from his love for music. Now, with a matured perspective and deeper artistic voice, he’s making a powerful return with his new single titled ‘Odo.’

The track, which means “love” in Twi, marks a significant new chapter for Ras Koko as he reintroduces himself to fans old and new. ‘Odo’ blends heartfelt lyrics with rich melodies—a sound that reflects both his roots and growth over the years.

As Ras Koko steps back into the industry, he says, “Listeners can expect more authentic and soulful music that stays true to my journey and cultural identity.”

“Music has always been a part of me—even when I stepped away, I knew I’d return. ‘Odo’ is more than just a love song; it’s my way of reconnecting with the people and the passion that started it all,” he added.
