Following Sarkodie’s ‘Rapperholic Homecoming’ concert held in Kumasi, several behind-the-scenes issues have come to light.
Media personality Ebenezer Donkoh, popularly known as NYDJ, has revealed that he witnessed police officers allegedly taking bribes from attendees at the entrance.
In an interview on Asetena Pa, NYDJ, who played a role in staging the event, said he saw several disturbing incidents during the event that made him disappointed.

According to him, certain actions by security personnel marred what could have been a flawless experience.
He said because of the rains, when fans left and later returned, security officers who were supposed to be checking tags and ensuring that regular and VIP ticket holders were in their designated areas appeared to have relaxed.
This, he noted, allowed some attendees to force their way into sections they hadn’t paid for.
“I saw a lot of things that made me feel terrible. An event organiser had rented the sports stadium and paid security to protect lives and property. But when it started raining, many people moved away, and when they returned, the security who were supposed to check tags had relaxed. The fans began doing that ‘push push’ thing, and eventually, they overpowered the security,” he said.
NYDJ added that many people with regular tickets found their way into the VIP section, while some police officers on duty allegedly took advantage of the chaos to make money from attendees.
Was Sarkodie’s ‘Rapperholic Homecoming’ the biggest concert Kumasi has ever seen?
He mentioned that tickets were not sold at the gate since most sales were done online, yet some officers were seen collecting cash from people who wanted entry.
He disclosed that tickets which were going for GH¢300 for VIP access and GH¢500 for VVIP, police officers took GH¢800 from groups of three and allowed them into the venue.
The broadcaster said he was so disturbed by what he witnessed that he confronted some of the officers on the spot.
“Most people with regular tags ended up moving into the VIP section, and the security just watched. At some point, I even saw security officers taking money from people to let them in, and they were police officers. Tickets weren’t being sold at the gate, but the officers were collecting money, GH¢300 for VIP and GH¢500 for VVIP. If a group of three came, they’d take GH¢800 and allow them entry. I confronted some of them right there. It was terrible,” NYDJ added.
