Ghanaian rapper Medikal has added his voice to the ongoing debate about the future of the rap genre in Ghana.

It could be recalled that following the success of some songs by rappers in which they sang, speculations popped up that rap as a genre is dead.

However, speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dazie, Medikal passionately defended the future of rap in Ghana.

According to the “Too Risky” hitmaker, “rap can never die. With people like me existing, Rap can never be dead. Unless I’m dead.”

Looking back at 2024, which included his sold-out show in the United Kingdom, Medikal credited his achievements to divine support and his loyal fanbase.

“It’s God and my fans. Without God and my fans, I’m nobody. They keep me going,” he shared.

Looking ahead to 2025, Medikal offered advice to both the incoming government and Ghanaians.

He urged the government to prioritise the country and its citizens while encouraging Ghanaians to stay strong, happy, and mindful, especially when it comes to health and safety.

As for his plans, Medikal hinted at an even more intense year ahead, stating, “This year I was crazy; next year, I’ll be mad.”

Medikal said this at his Beyond Kontrol Concert held at Ghud Park in Accra on December 26, 2024.

The event, which attracted massive crowds, saw Medikal entertain the ecstatic audience with his hit songs.

He was also joined by various artistes including Shatta Wale, Efya, KK Fosu, Quamina MP, etc.
