The second edition of the Rainbow Nations Padel Challenge climaxed successfully on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Rolider Sports Complex in Dzorwulu, Accra.

The two-day Padel Challenge, hosted in collaboration with the Ghana-South Africa Business Chamber, saw Accra Springboks take on Gold Coast Internationals on the first day. The main competitive event took place on Sunday, as players exhibited their skills and prowess in the game.

The main idea for the event was to bring together people from different backgrounds and nationalities to network and familiarize themselves while engaging in competitive sports. Speaking at the games, some of the participants expressed their excitement after engaging in the sport.

Marjan said, “Padel is a very nice and easy-going sport. You don’t need to be very good at it or know tennis; you just need to get the ball at the back of the net. It was very good for my health. Instead of being in the office, you’re outdoors playing a very nice game.”

“It was a well-organized game, and I liked the way everybody showed up. It’s hard to wake up early on Saturday morning, but I am here, and we are having fun. I am glad I am part of the community,” Duffy, one of the players, stated.

Padel is a racquet sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. It is played on a smaller, enclosed court with walls, which players use to bounce the ball. Padel is usually played in doubles, with two players on each team.
