Zinedine Zidane received a warm ovation from the crowd in Rabat after appearing on the big screen during Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations match against Sudan, creating one of the standout off-field moments of the evening.

The former France captain and World Cup winner was in the stands to watch his son, Luca Zidane, who was starting in goal for Algeria in their Group E encounter. As his image flashed across the screens, supporters responded with loud applause, acknowledging one of football’s most respected figures.

Luca, who has represented France at youth level, has established himself as Algeria’s first-choice goalkeeper and delivered a composed performance as the North Africans claimed a convincing 3-0 victory.

Zidane’s presence added extra attention to the fixture, underlining the family connection at the heart of the occasion. While the focus remained firmly on Algeria’s performance on the pitch, the ovation for the former Real Madrid coach highlighted the respect he continues to command across the football world.

Algeria’s win strengthened their position in Group E and reinforced their early intent at the tournament.
