Ghanaian forward Kelvin Kwarteng Yeboah was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Match after hitting a swashbuckling brace to fire Minnesota United to beat Columbus Crew 3-2 from behind.
The 25-year-old, who is the nephew of legendary Ghanaian striker Tony Yeboah, halved the deficit around the hour mark before pulling parity with a precised strike around the 66th minute.
Yeboah, a former Genoa and Augsburg attacker, started the Minnesota comeback when he slid between two defenders and right-footed a flick by Markanich.
He made it 2-2 when he had an open header from a corner kick by Joaquin Pereyra.
Following his superlative performance in Sunday night’s clash, Yeboah was voted the MVP for the game by Minnesota fans. The former Italy U21 striker will receive $1000 to fund a charity program of his choice.
