51-year-old Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu has been nominated by the queen mother of Asante Mampong to succeed Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who died in April 2025.
A traditional rite was performed at the Asante Mampong chief’s palace on Monday, October 13, 2025, to formalise his nomination, pending the Asantehene’s acceptance.

Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu is a royal of Asante Mampong and brother of the current queen mother, Nana Agyakomaa Difie II.
He was born on March 14, 1974.
He began his education at the City of Kumasi School and continued at Prempeh College.
He later pursued a BSc in Geometric Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Leslie furthered his studies internationally, earning a master’s degree in Geo-Information and Earth Observation from the University of Twente, Netherlands, followed by a second Master’s in Computational Science and Engineering from the University of Munich, Germany.
Professionally, he has spent over two decades as a Senior Software and Geospatial Systems Strategist.
Why Mamponghene is the second-in-command to Asantehene
He currently serves as Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, where he manages advanced geospatial solutions and technology systems.
