Chairman of Council of State, Edward Doe Adjaho Chairman of Council of State, Edward Doe Adjaho

The Council of State’s chairman, Edward Doe Adjaho, has urged the council’s members to keep their pledge to advise President John Dramani Mahama on matters pertaining to the nation’s growth.

Adjaho reiterated the Council’s mandate, which is supported by Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution, emphasizing the necessity of offering wise counsel and suggestions in the interest of the country.

The former Speaker of Parliament urged the members to act in the nation’s best interests rather than those of the political elite.

He was speaking at an orientation for the Council on Monday February 24, where he called on the members to play a role that serves the country and not the interest of the political elite.

“Let us endeavour to put Ghana first, upholding the law and ensuring genuine care for people must be paramount in our deliberations when we give advice to the president of the republic. We must speak the truth to those we advise.

“Engage leadership and the people, connect with policy decisions to tackle the challenges facing our democracy. It is the surest way our deliberations at all times can benefit both the government and the Ghanaian public.”
