Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie
President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in Member of Parliament for Ketu-South and Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, as substantive minister following her approval by Parliament on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Friday, January 24, 2025.
President Mahama, during the swearing-in ceremony, urged the Minister of Tourism to continue the incomplete works left behind by the previous governments.
He further urged her to improve the creative arts industry and create the Black Stars’ experience as stated in the party manifesto.
“Dzifa Gomashie, you are a firm player in the creative arts before venturing into politics. Your colleagues are looking up to you to build the tourism space and also lift the creative industry. You have to create the Black Star experience as stated in our manifesto and build on the gains that were made by previous efforts of your predecessor ministers,” he said.
Dzifa Gomashie appeared before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, for vetting to determine her confirmation as the substantive Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
She was nominated for the position on January 16, 2025, in a statement signed by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
Having served as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture under the Mahama administration from 2013 to 2017, Dzifa Gomashie is also a two-term Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, where she has championed development and community empowerment initiatives.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie holds an MPhil in African Studies from the Institute of African Studies.
She earned a diploma in Theatre Arts and a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Management from the University of Ghana.
