Ghanaian vlogger, Wode Maya, has narrated how President John Dramani Mahama’s name played a pivotal role during the filming of one of his YouTube videos in Burkina Faso.

In an interview with media personality Kafui Dey, shared on X on August 26, 2025, Wode Maya disclosed that President Mahama is considered the second most loved personality in Burkina Faso, after the country’s military head of state, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

He explained that many Burkinabè admire Mahama because they believe he genuinely supports and respects their president, Captain Traoré.

“I think after Traoré, he is the most loved man in Burkina Faso. To the people of Burkina Faso, they feel like he is protecting their president, so they adore him,” he said.

‘China, Russia are not your friends, don’t let them lie to you’ – Wode Maya tells Africans

He also recounted how a picture of himself with President Mahama served as an ID card everywhere he went.

Wode Maya noted that the picture gave him access to numerous places in Burkina Faso as far as his vlogging was concerned.

“I have a photo with President Mahama, and they love him in Burkina Faso. So when it gets tough, I will just show the picture and they will allow me. I was filming a video where there were so many police present, but I needed that shot.

‘I wasn’t expecting a wise comment from you’ – Wode Maya involved in social media showdown with Akufo-Addo appointee

“So I told my guy that I have a picture of President Mahama, so let’s go, that was my ID card. So after I showed him the picture, the police allowed me,” he added.
