The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, was on May 10,2025, honoured with the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize at the Millennium Excellence Awards Dinner held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The award was presented by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, in recognition of President Mahama’s outstanding leadership and impactful service across the African continent.

The high-profile ceremony, held under the gracious patronage of the Asantehene, attracted dignitaries from across Ghana and beyond, including statesmen, diplomats, business leaders, and traditional authorities.

Organised by the Millennium Excellence Foundation, the event aimed to celebrate African excellence and inspire continued service to the continent.

According to Dr Frank Amoakohene on his Facebook page, President Mahama was represented at the event by a delegation led by the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey former Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Minister of Finance and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene who received the award on behalf of the President.

“Together we proudly received a medal on behalf of H E John Dramani Mahama in recognition of his outstanding service and impact across the continent”, he indicated.

President Mahama’s leadership has been marked by major infrastructural developments, economic reforms, and a strong focus on regional cooperation. His influence continues to extend beyond Ghana, with active involvement in peacebuilding, democratic governance, and sustainable development initiatives across Africa.

The Millennium Excellence Foundation has for years recognised African leaders and institutions that exemplify integrity, excellence, and transformative leadership. The Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize is among its most coveted honours, previously awarded to eminent figures who have shaped Africa’s progress.

Last night’s event concluded with tributes to the enduring legacy of leadership that uplifts communities and drives continental unity. The honour bestowed upon President Mahama reaffirms his stature not only as a national leader but as a statesman of continental relevance and vision.
