“You have brought immense pride and glory to Ghana by winning the World University Football Games, beating no less a team than Brazil.

“This victory is not only a win for UDS. It is a statement that Ghanaian youth can compete and excel anywhere in the world when given the right opportunity and support,” President Mahama said when the team paid a courtesy call on him at Jubilee House on October 7, 2025.

He also announced a financial reward to support the team’s future endeavors.

“We won’t let you go empty-handed. This is GH¢500,000 to be presented to Professor Seidu Al-Hassan. It’s a reward to the team for the excellent job you have done,” he added.

UDS emerged champions of the 2025 World University Games football tournament after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over defending champions Paulista University of Brazil.
