The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has conveyed warm wishes to all women on the occasion of Mother’s Day.

In a press statement released on May 11, 2025, he acknowledged the profound contributions of women to nation-building.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the tireless mothers working to build a better future for their children,” the statement read.

Emphasising the myriad challenges women often face, the former President expressed particular admiration for their resilience in ensuring the stability and functionality of their homes.

“Many of you encounter various challenges, yet your resilience inspires your children and others in the community,” the statement added.

He assured the public of his unwavering commitment to empowering women, whom he recognised as crucial to the nation’s development.

“As we celebrate our mothers today, let us renew our commitment to building a Ghana where every mother and child has the opportunity to thrive,” the statement said in part.

Mahama further pledged to prioritize policies that uplift mothers, women, and families, focusing on key areas such as “access to quality healthcare and education to economic empowerment.”

The message added a personal note of appreciation, “Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the incredible women who nurtured us. To my wife, Lordina, Vice President Naana Jane, and all mothers, thank you.”
