President John Dramani Mahama has left Addis Ababa at the end of the 39th African Union Summit.

During the Summit, President Mahama hosted a side event, the Addis Rockening, of the Accra Reset Initiative where he announced sweeping reforms aimed at strengthening Ghana’s economic sovereignty.

This include plans for Ghana to purchase its cocoa in domestic currency and cease the export of raw mineral ores from 2030.

Reflecting on years of engagement across continental and global platforms, the President in his remarks at the Accra Reset side event, said the moment now demands bold, coordinated action.

President Mahama attended the heads of state meeting on the APRM and hosted two other events on African Financial Management Institutions and on Reparations.

He announced that Ghana will table a landmark resolution before the United Nations General Assembly in March, on behalf of Africa for a global recognition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade as the gravest crime against humanity.
