President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Black Stars for securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup after topping their group.

He expressed delight over the team’s success and noted that the love Ghanaians have for the national team is gradually being restored and gaining momentum.

The president congratulated the players, technical team, and everyone who contributed to the achievement, urging them to showcase their footballing talent on the world stage.

“We’re all happy and proud of our boys. They’ve done quite well to qualify. I think the team’s morale and spirit are high. A few years back, Ghanaians were a bit, you know, dejected in the Stars, but I can see that spirit of support coming back.

“The Black Stars are one of the symbols that unite us as Ghanaians. Support for the team cuts across political party lines and ethnic divisions. I believe the opportunity to return to the world stage and exhibit what Ghanaians can do is something we’re all looking forward to,” he said during an interview with Sporty FM.

President Mahama also stated “We’re happy, we’re proud of the boys. I want to congratulate the management team and all those who contributed to this success,” he noted.

The Black Stars qualified for the 2026 World Cup after defeating Comoros 1–0 at the Accra Sports Stadium, finishing top of Group I with 25 points.
