The Office of the President came alive on November 20, 2025, with the celebration of the 2025 International Men’s Day under the resonant theme: “Healthy Men, Strong Families, Progressive Workplace.”

The gathering brought together senior government officials and staff of the presidency, all united in honouring the vital role men play in shaping families, institutions, and the nation’s collective future.

In a warmly delivered welcome address, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), called for a renewed national commitment to men’s wellbeing. She emphasised that men play a vital role in shaping families, workplaces, and the nation, and their health and well-being are crucial to progress.

She also highlighted the importance of recognising and celebrating men’s contributions, prioritising their health, and creating a supportive environment for them to thrive.

Delivering special remarks to commemorate International Men’s Day at the Presidency, Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, emphasised the importance of prioritising men’s health, family, and workplace harmony as a key to national progress.

He encouraged men to make exercise a habit to stay healthy, advocated for open and respectful conversations to strengthen family bonds, and stressed the need for mutual respect in the workplace to drive collective success.

He further shared personal life experiences that dovetailed into the theme of the event. His candid remarks resonated deeply with the audience, serving as a powerful reminder that even in the midst of demanding responsibilities, self-care is essential.

The Secretary to the Cabinet, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, delivering the keynote address, highlighted that men’s health is a critical aspect of national development, and it’s essential for men to prioritise their well-being for the benefit of themselves, their families, and the nation.

He noted that societal expectations often lead men to suffer in silence, but it’s crucial for them to speak openly about their struggles and seek help when needed. He also acknowledged the importance of women’s encouragement and partnership in promoting men’s health and urged everyone to work together to create a society with healthier, happier men.

Equally moving were Seth Terkper’s remarks, highlighting the need for young people to recognise the fact that opportunities often present themselves in unexpected ways, without clear signs or labels.

Rather than waiting for a clear indication, it’s essential to stay alert, be prepared, and recognise potential opportunities as they arise. By keeping an open mind and being proactive, you can capitalise on situations and turn them into valuable chances for growth and success.

The impactful event also featured a meaningful health educational session on prostate health. Dr John Antwi gave the education, particularly on the preventive measures such as avoiding alcohol and smoking.

He further introduced survivors of Prostate Cancer who, in turn, shared their survival stories.

An interactive session where men openly shared their personal journeys, stories of resilience, vulnerability, and silent battles, coupled with live band music from CLOGSAG BAND, electrified the audience. Their candour affirmed the event’s purpose, creating safe spaces for men to speak, heal and seek support.

In a heartfelt gesture, Staff of the Presidency presented a citation to the President received by the Chief of Staff, expressing their profound appreciation for his tireless efforts in promoting the well-being of men who work at the Office of the President and the nation at large.

As Ghana joins the global community to commemorate International Men’s Day, the Presidency’s celebration serves as a powerful reminder of the critical role men play in shaping the nation’s future.

The collective call to action emphasises the importance of prioritising men’s health, well-being, and dignity, recognising that healthy men are the backbone of strong families, progressive workplaces, and a thriving nation.

The Presidency’s initiative is a testament to the government’s dedication to promoting the well-being of all Ghanaians, and it is hoped that this marks the beginning of a sustained effort to promote men’s health and well-being across the country.
