The Presec Odadeɛ 1990 Year Group kicked off their 40-year entry (1985) anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Presec Odadeɛ ’90 Alumni Center.

As part of the celebration, the group organised an epic 5-a-side soccer tournament, inviting 1990 year groups from other prestigious schools, including Opoku Ware School (OWASS), Prempeh College, Achimota School, Accra Academy, and Adisadel College.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV after the games, the organisers explained the inspiration behind the event, “We wanted to do something different. Today, we are celebrating our 40-year entry into PRESEC. Most people celebrate their exit, but we chose to celebrate our entry.”

They also reflected on some of the challenges faced in organising the tournament.

“Our biggest challenge has to do with our age. We are all above 50 years old, so getting players to form a team was quite difficult because the fitness is not there anymore,” the organisers admitted.

Despite the challenges, they assured that the tournament will not be a one-time event.

“We plan to make this an annual event and have other schools host it in turns. Achimota School will host next year’s edition, and we hope to add two more schools to expand it into an eight-school tournament.”

They further revealed plans to introduce more fun activities in subsequent editions.

“We are also planning to add more games such as table tennis, cards, ludo, and others next year to make it more fun. Our women will also participate in the games from next year,” they added.

Accra Academy emerged champions of the maiden edition, while the other schools promised to come back stronger next year.

The organisers noted that the next edition is expected to be bigger and better, with corporate sponsors and organisations already showing interest in supporting the event.
