A major fire has ravaged parts of Lartebiokorshie near the Salvation Army School, destroying more than 10 houses.

According to unconfirmed reports, the fire started at a Chinese-owned plastic manufacturing company.

Two firefighters battling the blaze were reportedly rushed to the hospital.

A pregnant woman was also rescued from one of the affected buildings, while several other residents were taken to nearby health facilities after being rescued.

An update shared on Citi FM’s X page on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, indicated that the fire started in the evening opposite St Anthony’s, behind Oliver Twist.

“Major fire outbreak at Lartebiokorshie: The blaze, which started about two hours ago opposite St Anthony’s, behind Oliver Twist, has already gutted more than 10 houses,” the post stated.

The update further noted that the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is at the scene with four fire tenders.

However, Assemblyman Muntari Wahab has appealed for additional support, stating that the available tenders are not enough to contain the spreading flames.

“More support is urgently needed,” he stressed.
