KSM called on the church to actively contribute to national development KSM called on the church to actively contribute to national development

Renowned Ghanaian comedian and social commentator Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) has strongly reacted to a viral video of pastors publicly praying for President John Mahama.

According to him, such displays, while well-meaning, are pointless unless the church actively contributes to national development.

Speaking on his “TalkShop” show on YouTube, KSM urged pastors and the clergy to actively contribute to nation building and not just rely on prayer.

“Pastors, especially all of you who were praying for the president. It is time for you to contribute your quota to nation-building. Because you think it was all about praying for him and those prophecies now, all of that is meaningless until it’s linked directly with the concept of nation building,” he said.

KSM challenged church leaders to dedicate one day each month to civic engagement and to urge their members to engage in practical

“Use that day to actually encourage your congregants to start thinking about this country… the greatest miracle you can perform in Ghana right now is to have members who are committed to nation-building,” he urged.

He also criticized the undue power wielded by some clergy, saying they’ve become “weapons of mass destruction” by influencing congregations without educating them.

“Unfortunately, some of you have become weapons of mass destruction. Some of you are just brainwashing your people and not teaching them,” he said.

KSM pushed for the pulpit to become a platform for constructive dialogue and engage in common-sense initiatives rather than only prayer.

“Let the churches actually take the lead and invite experts to talk… it’s not just going to church and pray, pray, pray.

“There are certain things that you can do with common sense… prayer won’t do,” he added.
