In a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the party described the loss as “a moment of deep national pain” and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Ghana Armed Forces.

The deceased include Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister for Food and Agriculture; Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

“These were not just names or titles. These were sons of our nation, men who gave their lives in the line of duty and in service to Ghana,” the statement said. “Their dedication, courage, and patriotism must never be forgotten.”

The PPP urged the nation to use this time to reflect and come together in unity.

“We stand in solemn solidarity with all those affected. We call on all Ghanaians to unite in grief and reflection, and to honour the memory of the fallen by recommitting ourselves to national peace, security, and unity.”

The party offered a prayer for the repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for their families, saying, “May their souls rest in perfect peace. May their families find comfort in the collective embrace of a grateful nation.”
